As we officially kick off summer, the Salt Lake City Arts Council (a division of the Salt Lake City Department of Economic Development) is excited to celebrate the 30th year of the Twilight Concert Series.  Both local and headlining bands are confirmed and we are excited for what is sure to be another fantastic concert season at Pioneer Park. From the Roots to Solange the talent booked this season is incredible!

Looking at survey data from the SLC Business Survey conducted recently (a first-of-its-kind survey from the city), arts and entertainment along with quality of life has a significant impact on local businesses choosing to do business and expand in our city.  We also learned that the thousands of employees in Salt Lake City value access to the arts. So, not only is the Twilight Concert Series an incredible and affordable arts program accessible to everyone, it has shown to be a tool to attract and retain high-quality companies and workforce talent in SLC.

Still not convinced that Twilight is a benefit to your business and employees? Let’s dig a little deeper into the data:

  • Arts and entertainment (A&E) is among the top five major contributors that keep companies in SLC.
  • A&E ranked very high for SLC businesses for what is important to them.
  • A&E topped the importance list for companies who would expand in SLC versus another Utah city.
  • A&E fell high in ranking and importance for odds of a company to expand within SLC.

This data may or may not be surprising depending on who you ask, but the message is clear: SLC businesses and their employees put a high value on the arts, and our economic development team needs to do more to market and promote this aspect of our city.
