One of the many great characteristics of Salt Lake City and its residents is the entrepreneurial spirit. We have so many great small businesses and start-ups and in our line of work doing economic development, we’re privileged to witness the hard work and creativity on a daily basis. In that vein there is a little known fantastic national program offered locally by Goldman Sachs that could be an excellent resource for SLC’s small business owners.

“Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is an investment to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity by providing access to education, capital, and business support services.” Salt Lake City is fortunate to be one of only 14 locations nationally where Goldman Sachs offers the full capital plus education.

Currently, there is an effort to recruit small businesses to participate in 2018 classes. The registration deadline is September 13 for Cohort 15 classes and January 10, for Cohort 16 classes. The 10,000 Small Businesses program has serve more than 8,000 small business and resulted in “immediate and sustained” business growth for the program’s alumni.

The 10,000 Small Businesses program benefits business owners in three invaluable ways.  First, education where they partner with local colleges for practical business education in partnership with a national leader in entrepreneurial education, Babson College. Second, providing a network of support including advice, advising, and networking.  Third, access to capital, working with local, regional, and mission-driven lenders.
