We’re in the final days of the Partners in Preservation: Main Street campaign, made possible through a partnership between the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express. Salt Lake City is one of just 25 cities selected nationwide to compete, and we are calling all residents, business owners, patrons, and visitors to get behind the effort and vote now at http://voteyourmainstreet.org. The City has the chance to receive up to $150,000 in grant funding for the restoration of the historic Utah Pickle Company building.
Let’s face it, Salt Lake City is growing and it’s growing fast. In the past 2 years we’ve seen an explosion of development and growth from the private sector. The majority of this growth has come in the form of condos and apartment complexes. These developments are increasing property values and slowly taking over our historic areas.
As a company that loves our historic places and has been serving the creative community for the past 5 years, Ori Media and Studio Elevn owner Michael Ori has spent the past year developing a vision for Salt Lake that preserves our history and further promotes the beautiful minds and work of our local artists, makers and designers. This vision comes in the form of the Elevn Project, a plan to re-imagine 1.5 acres of land that surround the historic Utah Pickle Co and Bissinger Hide buildings in the Granary District into a creative campus and community event space.
Working with Form Development, CRSA, Cityhome Collective, and the RDA, they have created a plan that will serve the community and support our local creatives. These organizations, firms, and designers are dedicated to restoring and enhancing our neighborhoods to make them more vibrant and sustainable. The Elevn Project is ambitious in scope but with the support of the community, this promises to be one of Salt Lake’s most creative and progressive areas. Here are some of the details:
